Hosea
Hosea is God’s messenger to the northern kingdom of Israel during a time of severe spiritual decline. Through Hosea the prophet, God labels
Israel’s sin as spiritual adultery that breaks God’s heart. He has been a husband to Israel, but Israel relentlessly seeks other lovers. It is in Hosea that we clearly
see both the kindness and severity of God. God’s kindness is demonstrated through His provision and patience and His severity is threatened against a rebellious people.
In this minor prophet, we see Romans 11:22 illustrated, Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness, if you
continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.
