Church Membership

The covenant membership of this local fellowship is comprised of those persons who have articulated a necessary understanding of the gospel, demonstrated genuine repentance from sin and faith in Christ, and have covenanted together with other believers as instructed in the Scriptures until the Lord returns.

Why should I join a church?

This is an important question that is often asked in our culture today. We have provided an excellent article to explain the importance and benefits of membership in a local church. Read article.

What are the requirements for church membership?

Baptism: The ultimate requirement for membership into Christ's church is genuine repentance and faith in response to the gospel of Jesus Christ. This repentance and faith is evidenced by a believer's public acknowledgement of Christ as Lord and Savior through baptism. This baptism also "baptizes" them into a covenantal relationship with God's people.

Foundation Class: This class provides a clear understanding of our church and how we function as a biblical community. While not mandated from Scripture for church membership, it assists us in maintaining a spirit of unity and harmony by clarifying to all potential covenant members those things that govern our life together and unite us in fellowship here at GRBC. Check the church calendar for the date and time of our next class.

Church Covenant: The church covenant is a document that communicates the essence of the Christian life in the context of fellowship with other believers in accordance with the commands of Scripture. Church covenants have historically been used by churches to help convey the biblical importance and requirements of membership in a local church. All members of GRBC have signed the covenant and are accountable to fulfill it inasmuch as is within their power with the help of the Holy Spirit.
